George Carlin on "condolences" (from a video clip this week on HBO).....

"Have you ever wondered what people REALLY mean when they give you their condolences after a loved one has died?

"They ask, 'If there's ANYTHING I can ever do.....ANYTHING AT ALL.....pleeeeeeease don't hesitate to ask.'

"Like, what can they do, man?

"So the next time somebody says that to me, I'm gonna say, 'OK, you can come over this Saturday and paint the garage. And while you're at it, bring a plunger. The upstairs toilet overflowed and there's shit all over the floor!"

I often marvel at the way Carlin sees things that most of us miss:

He asks, "Why is it that just before a death row convict is given a lethal injection, they swab his arm with alcohol?"

Ahhh, George, you gotta love him!

george is one of the best. quick witt and very intelligent comedian, too.

loved his hbo specials in the 90's. he really does see things we really miss or just don't think of.

it's probably time for him to do the routine on the presidential elections again.

I've seen him in person, his shows are rediculously funny. he comes up with some outstanding everyday shit. Reminds us all how utterly stupid our day to day lives can be. beer
