I looked up the chart on Equibase and there's no mention of the $13,918 that you have listed.  Let me know where you got this and I'll take a lookl

Aside from that.

The purse for the stakes is $75,000 added.  That means all the entry and starting fees paid by the owners gets added to the 75K bringing to total to 79,750.

The $22,050 is the roughly 30% bonus money that's paid only to California bred horses that get a slice of the purse.  Since no California bred horses get a check, the money goes back to the state (reverts).

The rest of the numbers are your standard 60% for first, 20% for second, etc payouts.  It doesn't round out exactly so I'm figuring there's some sort of tax or workmen's comp fee taken from the purse account.

Thanks for info.  The chart I used in the above example was from bris.com
Here is another strange example from www.bris.com charts:
1st Race - Turf Paradise - Friday, January 20th, 2006
WHAT DOES PURSE $10,120 MEAN?
Purse: $10,120 (US $5,850) Value of Race: $5,850 1st $3,510 2nd $1,170 3rd $585 4th $351 5th $234

I think it means start looking at other charts!

Purse for that race was the $5,850, of which $750 came from ATBA funds. (It was a statebred maiden claimer race.)

Maybe they've decided to list the Canadian equivalent for our friends north of the border.

Sometimes it is more than the value of race, sometimes it is less.  It might be some kind of par comparison, not sure.  They've added some new class numbers in various places.  Wish they had a "what's new" section.
