I have read all the complaints about "illegal Mexicans" employed on the backstretch. My question, "Aren't the trainers the ones who are employing them"? There seems to be so much outrage because people without documentation are living on the backstretch. A simple solution would then be, stop hiring them, and if you find yourself unable to do that.. STOP COMPLAINING!!!!

What about holding the trainer accountable?

I agree with Chitown Stan, the trainers should be held accountable! Also, those that are complaining about a dwindling fan base for their product fail to see that the racist remarks about Mexicans in this forum might just shut out a potential fan base.

I agree, hold the trainer accoutable, after all isnt it the big stables that employ the majority of them?
And arent the trainers of those big stable such as
Homer
Rucker
Anderson
Macffrey
and a few more making big money, but paying the help peanuts

I cant go along with you on this. what about the IRB? should they be the ones held accoutable, they do have groom lic. they should check for green cards. no green card no lic. Homers grooms have green cards. Homer, Rucker Anderson take taxes out anyone can give a wrong SS#

Yes indeed the State does issue the license and has some level of responsiblity as well. But anyone who is an employer is required, by law, to verify the status of their employees. The trainer is the employer and therefore the burden of employee verification is on him/her.

Maybe the I.R.B should be checking all grooms license's, because I bet there are grooms that were born and raised here, that work in the paddocks at Bal/May that are in there without a valid up- to- date 06 license
