Here's my take on the top 9 contenders
Stevie Wonderboy--he's the champ and got pedigree to boot--injured will not run
1. Brother Derek--expecting big things from this one
2. Bob and John--nice hoss with a nicer pedigree
3. Doc Cheney--Zito best hope most likely
4. Music School--neil howards got a good one here
Stonesider--nice pedigree short of experince.--will not run
5. achcilles of troy--ernie's got a nice one here. would be rated higher if someone else was training.
6. noonmark--asmussen. wish he had a better trainer
7. Strong contender--ward's 2006 hopeful. way short of experince but has talent.

Nah. I have three crietriea for my list. 1. Must have run fast at least once. 2. Must have a young dam. 3. Must be free of Northern Dancer and Mr Prospector inbreeding. First Samurai is a northern dancer inbred. auto toss. 10F on dirt just doesnt suit first Samurai pedigree wise.

IF he runs, FS will take money. The racing media is itching to push him.

There is no way this one gets the 10F. simply is not possible. Look at Stevie Wonderboy and Brother Derek pedigree. Best Runners are in the west this year. First Samurai an also ran pedigree wise.

Just curious, why a young dam?

well I am on a pedigree list and one of the posters mentioned that she did a study on G1 winners and the vast majority had a dam 10 or younger when born. Figured if it was good enough for most G1 winners it was good enough for the derby. But shhhh its top secret angle. I shouldn't give away anything for free. **LOL** biggestal

Number 3 airs in the Sham. Three good ones in Bother Derek, Stevie Wonderboy and Bob and John in the west and no one any good in the east.

Yeah but I don't think he is derby Material. He's way behind. Got a lot of catching up to do. For Instance, he's NEVER been around 2 turns, Next race he's gotta stretch it out around two turns. How's he gonna get to the derby if he woefully short of conditioning that he couldn't get past keyed entry.
