The Tribune's story mentions his Harness Racing connection.

I'll try to be as tactful as possible here.

For Bill Wirtz, the man: father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend to many: rest in peace, sir.

For Bill Wirtz, cheap-assed owner of the Chicago Blackhawks: good riddance!

GO BLACKHAWKS! Maybe, just maybe now...

Holy crap!

He also owns or controls Dolph & Judge, the distributors for all alcohol for Illinois (not sure how wide the control is) and is/was the reason why we can't/couldn't get all the brands here.

The law may have changed within the last couple years.

I think its Judge and Dolph, not vica versa, who have held a MONOPOLY on the alcohol distribution since the dark ages of prohibition, seriously, thats how far it goes back, with the judge, being an actual judge if i am not mistaken-

glad you mentioned that, now maybe we will see some changes in prices here.

Now if Bob Pulford would either join Wirtz or leave town, then Tallon, Savard and the rest could start to operate like a real team. Bring Back Bobby Hull!!!

Kalamazoo Brewing Co./Bell's Brewing Co. (makers of the best beers in the midwest) stopped distributing in IL a little over a year ago because the IL distro company wanted to take too much off the top. That really irked me; I now travel to WI every so often to pick up a variety of Bell's.

Maybe Frank C. Calabrese will buy the Blackhawks. Frank has a nephew, Sam. He got a full scholarship to Notre Dame for hockey. He was on SI magazine. The Blackhawks will now win with someone that knows hockey.
