If my count is correct, they have listed 63. There is no way anyone can accomplish this feat.let alone remember specifically all first time out winners.IMO,these two morons are listing the horses that they trained trying to get attaboys from anyone who will listen.
Too bad Chicago Rich has not been posting lately,he surely would have blown a load after reading that list.

One other point to bring up.
At the other site, PocketRocket has posted that if any trainer of today had that many first start wins, DN would be the first to cry JUICE.
But not the great DN, He won LEGALLY,everybody else is a CHEATER.
How many training titles did Team Blowhard win?  Can somebody please look this up?
And as for your 8000 claimer that kicked butt in the FFA. Do some math Danny. That 8000 claimer of 20 years ago equates to about a 20,000 claimer today at any B track. It is not that uncommon for a 20 to win an open at a B track.
Don't think you are that special.
So you see Dannyboy,You can manipulate the #'s any way you like, but anyone just a bit smarter than JOHN FRANK can see through the smoke and mirrors.

Truth be known, there is no way in hell they won their first start with all of those horses.
That's not saying that they didn't cheat.
That's why they aren't racing now.
The only hall of fame they could make would be the cheaters ahll of fame.
For them to try to compare themselves to Harmer is the biggest joke of all.
That's like comparing the Cubs winning history to the Yankees.

Please tell me SN?
How does the claiming king of the 1980's end up at Northfield Park in 2001. I bet you really killed them there.
Wrong , 6 starts and earnings of $350.
What a way for the King to go out.
Maybe 2000 When you had 15 starts in Cal. for earnings that year of $3,165.00.

This is ridiculous !    Its one thing if you dont like somebody and thats your perogative .  The truth is the Nances won with those horses and they did'nt go to jail because they were'nt doing anything wrong but training horses !  They made good claims and improved horses with adjustments and it was'nt any juice . I was there and was a hands on owner meaning I watched my horses closely . You guys can have a hard on with the Nances , but the truth is they could train horses . Ritmo was a 14,000 claimer and he beat the best in the country !   Hothead , Pershing square , Incredible finale !  Chicago was'nt any B track then at SPK !  So forget that bull about cheap claimers beating free for alls like it was'nt an accomplishment that went up the latter when they trained them like Eclipse and Ritmo . I'm not defending anybody either I'm just stating a fact ! I understand the past is the past and some dont want to hear about it anymore and thats fine !  They did an excellent job training horses against some great stables and you or no one else can take that away from them with any bull !   I stated the facts and you can believe what you want about the Nances training horses .  this nonsense gets a little sick you guys can bash them for other reasons , but to bash them for their training ability in the 80's is a total joke . Its like saying Joe DiMaggio could'nt play ball today !   Even if you dont like the person your still suppose to give credit where credit is due .  Lets try to get along to some degree of intelligience about racing today and yesterday .

                                          RTP

The fact is they were very good picking up horses with some shoeing and equipment adjustments and some good care .  PERIOD

Perhaps you can answer my question and I don't mean to be nasty and cruel. Why then did Scott do so bad in 2000 and 2001 at Northfield and Cal.

RTP as usual makes some valid points.
But for the Nances to compare their careers to Tom Harmer's is a "total Joke".

I dont know the Nances, but I do remember there were some guys at all racetracks that a halfway decent trainer could claim from, and improve.  The midwest seemed to have many of these types, who just raced, maybe they even drove their own stock, never believed in using any veterinarian, had their own ways of training, shoeing, and care.

Could it just have been the Nances had a keen eye for who they could improve off of ? Im asking, as I dont know.  But if that was the case, I can see where they would have some bitter enemies today.

Im not going to mention names, out of respect, but in 1993 a trainer at Los Alamitos called and said we should take this horse, from this moron and work on his feet, and take the snake cord off.  So we did, and he did move forward about 2 seconds for us, and put 10,000.00 in the  bank in 2 months.

Any halfway sharp trainer can do this, and the guy who lost the horse is never going to give kudos to him.

See you all later, Im off to the races.

Anyway they probably did win a bunch of races but ALL with Charlies Formula! Grin

looking in.......Im not sure if Scott Nance had much horsepower in 2000 when he came west. We didnt race year round then, and went fast for small money. (much like today, LOL)

My guess he didnt stay long, or didnt have the stock for those months.  or didnt fit the conditions very well, or whatever.

To be honest, until someone here said he came to Calif, I didnt remember.

This is a question that I cant answer , but even great trainers have lulls .  Just ask BOB BAFFERT at the t-breds . I truly do not know and SN would have to answer your question .

You are right about Tom harmer !

But let me ask you can you compare the N Y yankees to the Pittsburgh Pirates operation !  I'm sure we agree the yankees have more money to get better players .  The point being it takes money in any sport to get ahead and some have better opportunities than others .

Thanks for the responce RTP, I know your a very well respected person around racing in Chicago and you can bring it, my kind of guy. They, Nances, did a great job training horses in the 80's, besides DN OR SN, who gives a dam, it was 25 years ago, Al Bundy all over again. The real problem with your friends, Team Nance, is the way they attack people on a daily basis and toot their own horns on 25 yr old accomplishments. People just get a little tired of listening to the garbage that your friends spew out on a daily basis. Dan has no respect for anyone in the game today, but we are to show him respect for his accomplishments from the 80's, even though he was part of the M99 scandal.   And RTP, while we are at it, you as a true gambler should know, when a player continually brags about his scores, chances are he's a BS'er. I've been sending it way to long to not know the difference. Possibly many of your friends distractors would go by the wayside if Team Nance would not berate people on a daily basis. The things they write today reflect very poorly on the things they had success with 25 yrs ago. I have read enough postings by Team Nance to know the agenda is to ridicule and belittle the sport and the people that support it.

I had 1 horse in 1999 at Los Al, bought him for $10,000 (Native Braces) won with him for $17,500. Sent him to Ledford and he got claimed first start in Chi. for $20,000

Had 2 Horses in 2000 in Cali at los Al, One got claimed for $8,000 (Infinite) by Gene Valendingham.

The other one (Jakes Red Falcon) I bought out there for $13,000 raced him 6 times then sent him to Ledford in Chi. where he was a $50,000 claimer and made $80,000 in purses and got claimed at Dover for $30,000

oh yeah and I claimed Aurora Star N in 1999 and had him one start he won and got claimed by Rick Plano.

When I raced at NFLD in 2001 it was to do Clay Faurot Jr. a favor because he was Barred and could not feed his family so I took a couple up there to race for him as a favor.

Thats the truth!!!!

Now, all you bigmoulths that cant even spell horse let alone get one to the winners circle, Kmm , burton, rock, sullivan, looking in ect. please print your real names so I can see what your accomplishments have been OR NOT!!
thats only fair dont you think?

You had 15 trainer starts in 2000, no wins, one second, and no thirds,$3,165.
Native Braces no wins in 2000
31starts 0-3-4 $14,859
Tell us about Armbro sussex.
Jakes Red Falcon Your six starts he made $1,904. No wonder the owners sent him elsewhere.
Aurora Star N and the claim price was $2,500 That was 1999 the year you had 3 wins
