Arlington should have reached out to the Great Gil Levine.  He called the pacers during SPK's heyday.  One of the most entertaining race callers of all time.

One night Darryl Busse is on a big favorite on the lead turning for home, but his horse has hit the wall.  Levine makes the call "Mr. Busse, you are getting very heavy on that horse."

Within the next few strides, three or four horses pass Busse.

When Busse, passes the finish line, he looks up to the announcers booth. and waves his whip at Levine.  Levine chimes in after the race, "I told you Mr. Busse."
I think that Gil still calls races at Indiana Downs,, or Hoosier Downs.

Make sure you have some liquid refreshment with that pizza.   Is that deep dish or thin crust?

Let me ask you this - if you were hired to be the race caller at Hollywood or Gulfstream, would you think it was a promotion to go to Arlington Park?

I don't think most people would.

The facilities at Arlington are much better than the Casino track and the Old Hollywood.
Yes, it would be a promotion to call at Gulfstream and Hollywood and then go to Arlington to call the summer meet. Have you ever been to those tracks?

Yes I have been to those tracks and without knowing what the pay scale is I would not call AP a promotion.Yes the track  facilities are  one of the best but that does not make it top drawer. The top trainers, horses and jockeys are all somewhere else. The  ONLY real press the track gets is for THE MILLION and if it wasn't a CD track it would be in worse shape.

I listened to the other guy on the replay show and he is much better on the replay than he was live.

It's understandable, I think, that he screwed up some of the horses. He probably didn't get much of a chance to prepare. His voice was muddy live, but that could be because of the way that AP likes to pump up the crowd noise over the PA system.

Not realistic crowd noise?HuhHuh?    Is this like the same can of crowd noise that is played over TVG when AP are aired??   Simply amazing.   Again it proves, you are never to old  to learn something new. geezer

Seriously though, I am glad AP was able to find a sub on such short notice thumbs up and I am glad Mr. Dooley is back.

I, too, am surprised they didn't get Peter Galassi. Maybe he is out of town?

Or is Galassi the announcer at Hawthorne right now and didn't want to pull a doubleheader?

Galassi does the Harness at Hawthorne--On Sundays', the day in question, their first race goes off at 6:30pm- There is no way Pete could get to Hawthorne and do the necessary prep work, let alone call the races with about a one hour period to go from one track to another.

Arlington is not going to use Hawhorne's caller. RLD does not like Hawthorne. Galassi does harness during there current meet.  Huh

Gallassi was/is a patrol judge at Arlington over the last few years...correct?
So he was/is on the Arlington payroll.
