I spent a rare weekday at AP today on its first Wednesday program of the meet. The weather was outstanding and there was a decent crowd - certainly not like Father's Day but not a ghost town either. Plenty of free seats available upstairs and no long lines for those spensive beers and foodcourt. Better yet, the fields were solid and there were a few turf races to boot.
What I really like is despite going to 5 days of live racing, AP is carding 10 races on Fri, Sat and Sun and the entries are solid. For you turfers - tomorrow has 3, Fri has 2, and Sun has 4.

Thanks for the report Pete. Past years Wednesdays and Thursdays were ghost towns. Sounds like the good buzz of the meet is carrying though to weekdays. Amazing what can happen when you start offering full fields, for whatever reason. AND THEY DID IT WITHOUT SLOTS!

Plus 8 times your points on the Twin Spires Card!!! I rejoined Twin Spires just because of the 8 times points on Wednesdays! Let's face it, though. This was not a great card. However, I did hit 3 bets out of 7 plus a photo that I lost. A great day. Also, it seems to be non smoking on the whole first floor! And I think they actually moved some picnickers from under the overhang! Wow. And I think you can sit at that nifty Terrace Cafe deal and not buy anything - I'm not even sure it was open, but a lot of people were sitting there without buying anything. Nice leather padded chairs (OK, maybe it wasn't real leather - pleather, maybe) /Nobody chanted "Moon, Moon, Moon" in the paddock, though.

Plus OTABEK UMAROV!!! WHOA! An Uzbek jockey. Man, that's something. I'll bet he was disheartened when he saw how tall the horses are in the US. Those short little Mongol ponies they ride in Uzbekistan are nothing compared to thoroughbreds. pj, man, oh, man, I can't believe you did a report on Arlington today and didn't include OTABEK!!! We need to learn an Uzbek chant.

Some big bettor at out OTB told me to never use those cards. (Twin Spires which were something else before?)
He said it was not smart because of government tracking or some crazy thing like that. (he's a dentist so I don't know what he knows about it)
Anyone have an idea?

8 TIMES POINTS, pamwaggy!!! How can you NOT use that card. If you bet $130 today, you would have 1040 points and a free admission is 1000 points, and admission costs $5. Woo+! Free admission!

Well, since I bet almost exclusively win bets, a horse would have to be 300/1 before I had a signer. /It could happen.

Sundevil, Most of the non box seats are "free" on the weekdays (no ushers will move you out of them). I sat in first row second floor seats directly across from the jumbotron with no problems.
I'm "working" on tomorrow's card and will post some suggestions - no warranties, but I'm having a pretty good meet so far. Good luck.

T, this is one subject that you and I are in full agreement - no slots at the tracks. Any "relief" should go entirely into purses and the breeding program. Throw in ADW and the tracks can make out fine. Pete

Nobody! I'm going to watch the US play Canada in the CONCACAF championship round at Soldier Field!
/International soccer PLUS BEER! Awesome.
/Also, I can walk home without crossing any streets other than Division at the inner Drive, so I can get really, really drunk.
/Plus, I have to do my semi-annual laundry tomorrow. Sad, but true.

A $9.25 Tuna Sandwich will cost you 6000 points That would be, "Asian Tuna Salad", not plain tuna. The hoisin sauce is what makes it worth the Arlington bucks. Man, there's a dog in my neighborhood that's driving me crazy!

I keep getting email offers.
Maybe I'm thinking of another card? There was a flyer about it at our OTB many times. When the other card was obsolete.
Is this one only for Churchill players?

In person? (like get in free, etc.?")

You have to bet at one of their facilities, and run your card through a machine when you bet, so they can track you. After you have bet $20,000 and rung up 80,000 points, you can get a free lime green Frankenstein Pez dispenser key chain, or a track program for that day. If you can hold off until 150,000 points, there's a free Coke with your name on it. Medium.

How can you NOT use that card. Everytime I even think about using that card I have black and white images in my head of Raymond Burr as Perry Mason interrogating me on the witness stand at my future divorce trial ( I love my wife and don't REALLY expect this); but regardless the *** is holding up my twin spires card and the records he has subpoenaed from AP and he asks me point blank what were you doing at the track on a FREAKING WEDNESDAY?! If you see me at the track feel free to swipe your card on my bets.

If your at the track you might as well use the TWIN SPIRES CARD you are leaving something on the table.
What would always kill me was it was 1500 pts for a simulcast program in IL but 1000 in IN when CD still owned HOOSIER PARK.AP overprices everything.

I agree it is not the greatest program out there but if you are betting CDI tracks and not doing anything else you are leaving money on the table.I had a very good quarter in 05 and got upgraded to gold for 06 and believe me I got my money's worth for 06.

I think the only card you are eligible to get is the Golden State Rewards network card. That's some better than a free soft drink for 80,000 points, but I don't know the details. Hey - something I learned today - AIRPORT concession prices are lower than AP.
