Apparently Churchill Downs is having trouble filling races or so I have been told. Saturdays card has more 6 and 7 horse fields then I can remember especially in the month of May! Now one has to ask where have the horses gone? Not that they are here but I really do not recall a time when at this point in the season AP and CD have similar numbers of entries and on a Saturday!

AP 10 races 96 entered including AEs

CD 11 races 106 entered including AEs and MTO's

Jim,

I watched Delaware Park's races for their last two live days. Most of the races were 5 to 7 horse fields BEFORE scratches. Almost every race had 1 to 3 scratches. It was nice weather and they have very nice purses. I was wondering the same thing - where are all the horses??

They are all running at some mythical slots track somewhere that we (or Churchill, or Delaware) needs slots to keep up with. Wait! Delaware already has slots. Ahhhh ... ummmm ... what Delaware needs now to compete is table gaming. To keep up to keep up with other slots tracks. Then the horses will come. You bet! Roll Eyes And maybe parimutuel wagering will follow ... maybe. (Except not at Philly Park so far, wagering down 25%.) But keep the faith.
