Does anyone know if that catalog is out.  I have requested one twice from ITBOF with no success.  Makes it tough to buy a horse if you can't get a catalog.  The sale is 11 days

It was mailed out last week. Odd that you haven't received a reply from the ITBOF, though.

I haven't recieved a catalog either. Do you need to request them? I thought that if one is a member of the ITHA and ITBOF that it would be automatic to recieve the catalogs.

You can get pretty a decent 2 year old for not a lot of money here in Illinois. I don't remember what the high price was last year, but I seem to remember something like 70k (I might be way off though). Try to find an Illinois folded because they will compete for "added" money in open races here at the Illinois tracks.

Highly doubtful I am buying, highly, but i would want an Il bred just to support the state, IL Racing, and try to get one of those IL stakes races

Every 2 yo that breezes and goes through the ring is automatically entered next year in a special stakes race at Hawthorne. I think it's a 45k purse.

How do the prices compare to statebreds in other states where the purses are much higher, maybe due to a racino?

/I'm not talking about KY or NY or CA. Suppose you had money to buy a horse anywhere, but wanted to buy a statebred in whatever state to get their bonus statebred purses. Would Illinois be at or near the top of the list, or would some place like Virginia or Louisiana or whatever be better?

Is there any place to get a catalog for the sale?
Why don't they send out a catalog to the membership?

The auctions are a lot of fun, Scav, even when you aren't buying. Just listen to all that's going on around you, and get yourself a beer and a sandwich.

There's usually catalogs laying around the racing office if you don't want to go all the way to the backside, at least there has been in past years.

Last year Quiet Kingdom was the topper.

I haven't watched them work yet, nor will I until I get to the tent to watch them work BUT in the catalog the two that I have interest in are Hip 14 and Hip 42

Hip 14 is by Yankee Gentlemen and has Clever Trick as a broodmare sire, this horse is bred to absolutely fly and will win one of those illinois bred 2 year old races quite easily IMO

Hip 42 is by Prime Timber out of a Miner's Mark mare, and a horse that will also win early. With Arlington getting poly, which has been easier on turf horses, another that can win first out and probably last 9 panels. Some serious turf breeding with this horse

All:

While this is clearly the best book we have scene in years I will bet that at least 2/3rds of the horses are buy backs. It is really a shame and unfortunately the breeze rule to qualify for the Illinois stakes race just raises the number of buybacks.

Having said that the quality is far better than the last two years. bull

The chances of there being a good crowd at Hawthorne on a drizzly Wednesday morning to watch 2yo workouts, and take up the Exbourne chant, well ... let's just say, not good.  thumbs down

Haha! No, I had never even heard of the Hounds (how did I miss THAT?) but I'm in favor of it!

Oh, nuts. The Hounds play out in the land beyond O'Hare. Sad
