Author Topic: Gaming Board revokes license of "stain on the gaming industry"  (Read 873 times)

With one Gaming Board member referring to Emerald Casino as a "stain on the gaming industry", the Board voted unanimously to revoke Emerald's license yesterday. Emerald immediately said it would appeal. That is expected to tie things up another three to five years. No relief in sight from that for the racing industry just yet.

Looks like gambling and horseracing in mid-west are being re-built from the GROUND Up by the powers-that-be and that means the midwest will be following and not leading, as usual. When all the smoke clears, a lot of tracks and opertators will be gone, nation-wide.

U.S. courts are corrupt. Many judges commit fraud upon their own court and unbelievably, people still find it hard to swallow that judges are in-the-pocket. Something about the uniform, the public's constant exposure to authority figures on crime shows (the sheer number of them can't make it a coincidence) ,the black robes, the  military and state flags behind the bench, and their power of incarceration. Maybe it's the "swearing on the bible" crap that impresses people.

Some of these judges are no less corrupt than the perps they're sworn to protect us from. It's a big joke.

There's another update on the story. The day after the Gaming Board revoked the license, Rosemont went to court and got an injunction to keep the State from doing anything from the license. So now that has to go to the Court of Appeals, too.

Anyone waiting on this P.O.S. to start saving Illinois racing is in for one long wait.

A friend of mine works for Foley/Lardner, who I believe represents either Emerald or Isle of Capri in the matter.  I'm going to see if I can find anything out -- although I'm sure most of it has already been reported.

Best,

What you will find out is they are jumping up and down, anticipating many more years of fat fees from the never ending legal actions on this case, and everyone in the firm is driving a Porsche. Your friend should take you out for a nice dinner.  Grin

This thing is the Illinois equivalent of Jarndyce versus Jarndyce except even funnier.

They ONLY charge $400-600 an hour, Terry.  They should be able to knock this out for about $12.95 or so, right?

I don't know about $12.95. I went by Office Max yesterday, and the cheapest ream of paper was $4.59. Figure four or five reams per appeal and motion, plus a couple manila folders and a binder or two, the Xerox costs, all multiplied by 200 appeals and motions (times the 38 law firms involved), and all of a sudden you are into some substantial money.

It seems some minority and women owners in this deal will get burned the worst.  They were brought in at the last moment to get the votes of the minority lawmakers.  I guess you can say they were greedy too and just lost on the big gamble of getting on the gravy train.  Somehow, even at that, I feel sorry for them.
