I've been to Vegas for business and pleasure for almost three weeks the last month.  I'll be there again next month.  I didn't go off the strip, therefore I can not judge the off the strip books.  But I made a stop to every book on the strip.  I play tbreds, harness, quarters(vegas doesn't take quarter signals, at least none did on the strip).  I also like playing NBA parlays.  So much of my evaluation has to do with privacy to handicap rather than comfort and fancy looking books.

The Best:

 1) Ballys- Private in the lower level of the casino, no slot noise.  They always had programs and DRF's.

2) Imperial Palace-  The sports book is old fashioned with the marker boards, but the race section has ample stadium seating with personal tv's.  On the second floor, also away from the slot noise.  The rumor is this will be gone in a couple years replaced by condos.

3) Stardust- Ample tellers, never get shut out.  Well lit, away from slot noise.  Three negatives are there are no personal tv's at every table and it is at the "ghetto end of the strip".  Also, they ran out of Big M programs very quick.  They should be more stocked with DRF's and programs.   If it had personal tv's it could easily move up to number one.   "Real" people hang here and the high rollers blend in and don't flaunt.  Rumor also is that in a couple years this place will be gone in the place of condos.  With the sports betting volume here, I'd wouldn't be surprised if a new one was built somewhere else.

4)  Wynn- Very nice.  One big negative is it is again near slot and table noise.  I'm very surprised a new hotel would build such a nice room near slots.

The Worst:

   1) Riviera- It is a little area right by slots and they carry no harness.  Bad tv's, etc, etc.  They charge for forms and programs.  Every other book gave them away for free.

  2) Circus Circus-  Staff is friendly, they give out free DRF's and Harness Eye's papers.  But it is extremely noisy by the slots.

Overrated:

  C. Palace, The Mirage, and all the other fancy schmancy joints.  There is way too much slot and table noise.

Most harness players: Bellagio

Most tbred players: Bally's

Shhh...don't let Steve Wynn hear that. He's going to be awfully upset if he finds out that he just spent $2.7 billion to build a hotel that doesn't exist! Shocked

Unfortunately, it's the SW.  Steve wanted to name it EW after me, but I didn't want him to blow my cover Wink

Ah, there's probably more than one.  Walked by an "SW" last time out there -- knowing the property, there's probably both -- along with the million other restaurants that are in there!
