GOOD AFTERNOON FORUM,

MY NAME IS BOB HOROWITZ AND I AM A TRAINER AT THE MEADOWLANDS RACETRACK IN EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY. THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON THIS FORUM AND DECIDED TO WRITE THIS SO ALL OF THE CHICAGO TRAINERS WILL KNOW WHERE I AM COMING FROM. TWO WEEKS AGO MY OWNERS CLAIMED A HORSE FROM ROBIN SCHADT NAMED PACIFIC PLAYBOY FOR $75,000.  THE HORSE RACED PRETTY BADLY THE NIGHT I CLAIMED HIM. WHEN I GOT HIM BACK TO THE BARN HE SEEMED TO LOOK OKAY AND NOT ANY LAMENESS AT ALL. I JOGGED HIM VERY LIGHTLY FOR A FEW DAYS AND RACED HIM BACK THIS PAST WEEKEND. WELL, I AM SURE ALL OF YOU SAW HOW HE RACED. HE PACED HIS MILE IN 53.4 WITH A LAST QUARTER OF 29.1. TERRIBLE FOR A $75,000 INVESTMENT. I FIGURED SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT SO ON THE ADVICE OF MY VET BLOOD WAS DRAWN TO SEE IF THERE WAS SOME KIND OF INTERNAL PROBLEM. THIS MORNING THE VET CAME TO MY BARN AND RECOMMENDED THAT WE NOT RACE PACIFIC PLAYBOY BECAUSE HE WAS SO INFESTED WITH EPIGEN THAT HIS WHITE BLOOD COUNT IS IN THE CRITICAL STAGES OF HIM POSSIBLY DYING. THIS IS UPSETTING TO MY OWNERS AND MYSELF THAT YOU CHICAGO PEOPLE POISON YOUR HORSES BY USING EPIGEN. IT IS USED ON CANCER PATIENTS WHO HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH VERY SHORT LIFE EXPECTENDCY. WHY WOULD SOME STUPID TRAINER POISON A HORSE LIKE PACIFIC PLAYBOYS CALIBUR WITH EPIGEN? THIS IS A ROYALLY BRED HORSE WHO CAN EARN IN THE SIX-FIGURE MARGIN EVERY YEAR IF PROPERLY MAINTAINED. I WAS TOLD BY A CHICAGO SOURCE TODAY THAT ROBIN SCHADT USES A VET NAMED PETE LANGLEY WHO WOULD HAVE GAVE THIS HORSE SO MUCH EPIGEN, IT WAS COMING OUT OF HIS EYEBALLS! DOES ROBIN UNDERSTAND WHAT EPIGEN DOES TO A HORSE? I HAVE MADE BAD CLAIMS IN MY LIFE AND UNDERSTAND THEY ALL CAN’T BE GOOD ONES BUT THIS SITUATION WITH PACIFIC PLAYBOY IS VERY WRONG. I HOPE YOUR RACING COMMISSION WILL SPECIAL ALL OF ROBINS HORSES AND SUSPEND HER LICENSE FOR POISONING HORSES AND GIVING HARNESS RACING A BAD NAME. STUFF LIKE THIS STOPS OWNERS FROM INVESTING AND RUINS ANY CHANCE OF HARNESS RACING GETTING TO THE SAME LEVEL OF THROUGHBREDS. IT’S NO WONDER WHY HARNESS RACING IN CHICAGO IS FALLING DOWNHILL. WITH TRAINERS LIKE ROBIN SCHADT WHO ARE ALLOWED TO USE ILLEGALLY OBTAINED BOOKIE MONEY ON HORSES AND THEN POISON THEM WITH EPIGEN THE CHICAGO RACETRACKS WILL BE CLOSING THEIR DOORS ANYDAY NOW. ROBIN, WHEN YOU READ THIS I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I REALLY THOUGHT YOU WAS BETTER THAN THIS. ITS A REAL SHAME HOW YOU RUINED PACIFIC PLAYBOY BY LETTING YOUR VET PETE LANGLEY POISON HIM WITH EPIGEN. HOW MANY OTHER HORSES HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO. I HOPE YOUR OWNER READS THIS SITE AND LETS YOU HAVE IT. THANKS FOR NOTHING.  Angry

I saw enought damn hoses and saw horses tubed DAILY, not just to race but DAILY!!  What do you think that does to a horse time after time after time.  Let's not play innocent here BOB....when it comes to pre-racing there are quite a few chemist in Jersey.

And Bob it is EPOGEN.....not epigen. Epoetin Alfa to be correct. It is not only for cancer patients, it is used for anemia.

If some regular name here is stabled in New Jersey or has a contact would they ask "bob horowitz" if it was really him wrote this. Because we have had some fake real names before. False first timers also telling big storys. Ask him also how he conveniently happened to find this Chicago forum to fire on Robin.

TROTTER, WITHOUT DISRESPECTING YOU, I NEVER MEANT TO SAY CHICAGO TRAINERS ARE DIRTY AND NEW JERSEY TRAINERS ARE CLEAN. WE BOTH KNOW THAT IS NOT THE CASE. PRE RACING IS DONE ALL OVER A PART OF THE BUSINESS BUT TO DO WHAT ROBIN SCHADT DID TO PACIFIC PLAYBOY IN THE HUGE DOSES IS TERRIBLE. I HAVE NEVER USED EPOGEN AND NEVER WILL. I ALWAYS CONSULT WITH MY VET BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. TROTTER, I KNOW WHAT BAKING SODA DOES TO A HORSE AND I KNOW WHAT EPOGEN DOES TO A HORSE.  EPOGEN IS MUCH WORSE AND NOT ALLOWED IN MOST RACING JURISDICTIONS. THE REAL PROBLEM I HAVE IS WHT A TRAINER WOULD RISK DEATH TO A HORSE JUST TO MAKE A FEW EXTRA BUCKS. IF YOU CONSIDER PACIFIC PLAYBOYS ABILITIES ON HIS OWN, IT’S JUST PLAIN STUPID. I WAS TOLD TODAY BY A FRIEND IN CHIACGO THAT ROBIN IS A HORRIBLE TRAINER AND HAS TONS OF MONEY BEHIND HER. WELL IF THATS TRUE, WHY RUIN A HORSE LIKE PACIFIC PLAYBOY? I AM TOLD TO TURN HIM OUT FOR 6 MONTHS AND THE OWNERS ARE THINKING ABOUT SUEING ODDS ON RACING FOR EVERYTHING THEY HAVE. I APOLOGIZE IF I COME ACROSS TO YOU AS SOMEONE WHO DISLIKES CHICAGO BECAUSE THAT IS NOT TRUE. I HAVE FAMILY BACK THERE. IT IS VERY UPSETTING TO SEE EPOGEN GIVEN TO A HORSE OF THIS CALIBUR. MY VET TOLD ME THIS MORNING THAT ONLY A TRAINER WHO DID NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS MUCH EPOGEN TO A HORSE LIKE THIS. IT SOUNDS LIKE ROBIN DOES NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT HORSES AND NEITHER DOES HER VET. I DO APOLOGIZE FOR THE SNIDE CHICAGO COMMENT. I DID NOT MEAN ANYTHING BY IT. PLEASE ASK YOUR RACING COMMISSION TO LOOK INTO THE ODDS ON RACING BARN AND TEST ALL OF THEIR HORSES FOR EPOGEN. ROBIN SHOULD NOT BE A TRAINER IF THIS THE ONLY WAY SHE KNOWS HOW TO PRE RACE ONE. EVERYONE OUT HERE IN JERSEY LAUGHED AT HER WHENEVER SHE RACED AND I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS CLAIMING A DECENT ANIMAL WITH GOOD POTENTIAL. WOW WAS I FOOLED. I ENDED UP WITH A WALKING EPOGEN FACTORY!  Angry

Are you related to Moe, Curly and Shemp Horowitz of Three Stooges fame?

Bob,

If this is true, I feel sorry for you and your owners.  I have always felt that any horse that is claimed from a race should be subject to mandatory post race testing with the option of voiding the claim if something comes up positive.

The horse won a race at Balmoral last month and therefore was post-race tested.  Does Illinois test for EPO?

What do you mean "TRAINERS LIKE ROBIN SCHADT WHO ARE ALLOWED TO USE ILLEGALLY OBTAINED BOOKIE MONEY ON HORSES "?

Trainers tubing horses in NJ? Chemists? No...I'm shocked...I've never seen that! LOL  Wink

That is one of the standard storys of this forum about where the money comes from. Funny how first time poster "bob horowitz" from New Jersey would know it and include it to his epogen story. Small world.

Daley is serving a 6 month suspension for a high TCO2 reading on the horse Night Mystery. The barn raid conducted after the positive that turned up some suspicious items did not result in any further suspension. The criminal charges were treated treated in accordance with the way first offender cases are handled in NJ...if you stay clean for a specified time, no action is taken.

There is one difference between New Jersey and Illinois. New Jersey got casinos to subsidize there purses. That is it.

BB, I believe the reference was to the fact that Dana gets accused all the time of owning more than just a salt-water tank aquarium business.  Unconfirmed sources report that he is involved with offshore wagering.  I can say that this link is unproven through all my sources and those businesses are legal in the countries that host/ harbor them.  Either way, this shouldn't be a reflection on Robin.  That being said, IF Pacific Playboy is coming off the effects of an EPO program, the claim should be rescinded and the horse should be subject to 24 hour barn detention until testing clean for all substances for a period of at least 6 months.  I thought that EPO usage slowed down in NJ once Chansky Jr. was nabbed.  The only places left where EPO was a popular program was where the testing for it wasn't up to snuff.  Also, remember that steroidals and the like are more dangerous than milkshakes, where the danger lies in administering the shake.  Don't forget, trainers in the '90s were using bleach as a "system shocker" to improve performance.  This all makes for a lovely game we follow, no ?  TC

I believe what he is referring to is the owner of "Odds on Racing".  The owner is an
operator of a large offshore bookmaking operation--hence the name "Odds on Racing"

The only jurisdictions in the US that test for EPO are IN, DE and NY.

Boy what a story this is if its true. WOW!!!!

NJ, Are you telling me Yonkers tests for it and the Meadowlands does not???

The rumor around the racing world is that their is no real test for it.
I have only seen a few people ever caught for it and know first hand many more have been using it. Can you shed some light on this??

Dude, no one recommended you claim off of Rucker and I know for sure no one advised you to drive your own stock in a pari-mutuel race.  Good business decisions are the cornerstone of success, that I'll agree with you on.  TC
