Very nice piece on the USTA site relative to driver Dein Spriggs.  After a terrific year of setting records and winning races, Dein was named National Amateur Driver of the Year by the U.S. Harness Writers Association.  He's now taking on the professionals and with good success.  The last paragraph of the article says, "Recently, Spriggs was asked how he feels about amateur racing.   He didn't hesitate a moment and quickly answered 'the sport needs to have amateur racing.  It brings in new blood and creates new or resurrected interest.  It brought me back to the game.   Without amateur racing I wouldn't be involved again.'"  Congratulations to a fine young man.
