Does Dubai have full fields of claimers?  It looks like Arlington still has their eye set on higher level, international turf-type racing.  Otherwise, they could have hired the secretary from Beulah.  We will be having the old Arlington quality versus Hawthorne quantity argument continuing on here.

You're right. It will be the same old argument about 4 horse races, where one is a Mott horse that actually meets the conditions, the other three are local filler from the claiming ranks, and the Mott horse goes off at 1/9 and romps.

How much power does the Arlington racing secretary really have vis-a-vis the CD marketing plan or the careful maintenance or AP's "world-class" status? Seems like any secretary has no ability to call a spade a spade and write races for what he has.

Especially when AP is running opposite other CDI tracks...   

To be honest, there's way too much racing in the central US over the summer to support decent racing at tracks in MI, OH(2), IN, KY, IL(2), MN, IA, OK,TX, LA, NE, etc.  Get rid of half of those and the quality of racing at the remainder would be outstanding.
