SPORTSMAN'S NOTES
| Sportsman's Park News Release Contact: John Brokopp, 773-242-1121, Ext. 309 STATEMENT FROM CHARLES W. BIDWILL, III Chairman of the Board – Chicago Motor Speedway In recent weeks there has been a great deal of speculation in the media regarding the future of motor sports at Chicago Motor Speedway. Much of what has been reported is based on rumor, half-truths, and misinformation. First of all I would like to make clear that any issues regarding the Chicago Motor Speedway division of Sportsman’s Park do not in any way impact our Thoroughbred racing division, the National Jockey Club. Sportsman’s Park in 2002 will present a 46-day season of live racing opening March 1 and continuing through May 4. Talks are ongoing with Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) on behalf of Chicago Motor Speedway to resolve certain issues that exist between us in regard to the running of the Target Grand Prix the weekend of June 28-30. At the present time Chicago Motor Speedway at Sportsman’s Park is moving forward with plans for its 2002 auto racing season and fully intends to hold the Target Grand Prix as well as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event in August. -30- |
