THEGREATESTGAME.COM RELAUNCHES WITH ENHANCED WEBSITE, INCREASED AD CAMPAIGN
TheGreatestGame.com, a program to identify, recruit and retain new owners for Thoroughbred racing, has relaunched with an improved website and a bolstered, multimedia advertising campaign, it was announced today by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA). TheGreatestGame.com is a joint partnership of the NTRA, Keeneland, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA), The Blood-Horse, Inc. and The Jockey Club Information System's equineline.com.
TheGreatestGame.com's offerings include:
"The GreatestGame.com is designed to be an educational resource for potential new owners," said Reed Farley, executive director of TheGreatestGame.com. "We've just completed new research that provides a great deal of information about Thoroughbred owners. Whether it's matching prospects with professional assistance or simply reaching out to proactively answer the many questions they have, we have the ability to make the business of Thoroughbred ownership more accessible and less intimidating."
The resources of TheGreatestGame.com are available to support the efforts of Thoroughbred industry entities working to recruit new owners. A new-owner recruiting kit is being prepared for each NTRA-member racetrack. "The research clearly shows that our owners were racing fans for some period of time prior to becoming owners," said Farley. "Therefore, the tracks are a great place to reach the 'fan non-owner.'"
"As an industry, we can't afford to merely wait for new owners to come to us," said Nick Nicholson, president of Keeneland. "We need to actively get our story out to our target audience on the excitement of Thoroughbred ownership and the relative ease with which such a venture can be undertaken. TheGreatestGame.com will be vital in this pursuit."
"The investment made by owners is the backbone of this sport," said Dan Metzger, president of TOBA. "The goal of TheGreatestGame.com is to create new investors who, along with current owners, are the basis of this sport's future."
The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horseracing interests, including the American Quarter Horse Association, charged with increasing awareness of Thoroughbred racing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA also conducts the Breeders' Cup, Thoroughbred racing's year-end Championship consisting of eight races and $13 million in purses and awards, and the Breeders' Cup National Stakes Program, which are funded by the industry's owners and breeders. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New York City.
