"NTRA SUMMER RACING TOUR" TO AIR ON CBS IN JUNE AND JULY

The "NTRA Summer Racing Tour," presented by Long John Silver's, will air on CBS in June and July, it was announced today by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and CBS Sports.

Featuring races in four Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships divisions (Classic, Distaff, Turf and Mile), the three one-hour shows will air on June 15, June 29 and July 6 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (ET). In addition to presenting live races from such premier U.S. tracks as New York's Belmont Park, Louisville's Churchill Downs, Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, Chicago's Arlington Park, New Jersey's Monmouth Park and Lone Star Park near Dallas, the "NTRA Summer Racing Tour" will offer coverage of top races on the International Road to the World Thoroughbred Championships, including events from England's Ascot Racecourse and The Curragh in Ireland. Races from Hong Kong and Singapore also will be shown. (See attached schedule.)

"The 'NTRA Summer Racing Tour' will showcase important races as we transition to the second half of the racing season and multi-venue process that defines leading contenders for the 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships," said NTRA Commissioner Tim Smith. "We are delighted once again to be partnering with CBS and pleased that so many major international races will be included. Fans this year will be more familiar than ever with the stars likely to run in the Breeders' Cup at Arlington Park on October 26."

Hosting the NTRA Summer Racing Tour will be Dave Johnson. He will be joined by analysts Randy Moss and Caton Bredar and commentators Lesley Visser and Gary Seibel.

"Horseracing is a fascinating sport and one I really enjoy working on," said Visser. "Usually, behind each horse there's an interesting story, whether it involves the jockey, owner, trainer or bloodlines. Horses all have their own personalities and styles of running, and capturing them makes for an alluring telecast."

The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horseracing interests, including the American Quarter Horse Association, charged with increasing popularity of horseracing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA and Breeders' Cup Limited also conduct the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, Thoroughbred racing's year-end Championships consisting of eight races and $13 million in purses and awards, the Breeders' Cup Stakes Program and the Great State Challenge.
