HOLIDAY SALES PUSH BREEDERS' CUP COMMEMORATIVE BOOK PAST 10,000 MARK Buoyed by strong sales during the holiday shopping season, sales of "Breeders' Cup: Thoroughbred Racing's Championship Day" have surpassed the 10,000 mark. The 208-page book, written by Jay Privman with foreword by Bill Shoemaker, is a retrospective of the first 16 years of the Breeders' Cup, one of the world's premier sporting events. The book also contains more than 300 full-color photographs and has been critically acclaimed by Sports Illustrated, the Chicago Tribune and the Baltimore Sun, among others. "A big part of the success so far has come thanks to some very well-received book signings at tracks such as Belmont, Hollywood, Santa Anita, Churchill Downs, Keeneland and Lone Star Park," said author Jay Privman. "Additional signings are scheduled this winter at Fair Grounds and Gulfstream Park, so we hope to keep the momentum going strong in 2001." "Breeders' Cup: Thoroughbred Racing's Championship Day" is priced at $49.95 and is available through All Pro Championships at 1-800-992-9905 or via the Breeders' Cup online store at www.breederscup.com. A special Collector's Edition, limited to 500 copies, is also available at $250.00. The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of Thoroughbred interests, which in
addition to racetracks, includes owners, breeders, off-track betting
organizations, trainers, jockeys, veterinarians and sales companies, among
others. Through membership dues and funding from other horseracing
interests, like the American Quarter Horse Association, the NTRA markets,
advertises, promotes and televises Thoroughbred racing in North America. It
also serves as a catalyst for industry-wide programs benefiting members in
group purchasing, telecommunications and technology, consumer research and
legislative initiatives. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New
York City. A compendium of NTRA press releases appears on the NTRA Web site,
ntra.com. Contact the NTRA at ntra@ntra.com.
