TIZNOW'S BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC VICTORY OVER GIANT'S CAUSEWAY VOTED 2000 NTRA MOMENT OF THE YEAR

The dramatic finish of last year's Breeders' Cup Classic featuring Tiznow and European sensation Giant's Causeway has been voted the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) Moment of the Year. Tiznow's connections will be honored at the Eclipse Award Dinner on January 30 in New Orleans with the "NTRA Moment of the Year" award. Balloting was conducted at the NTRA Web site, ntra.com, and offered voters 10 different images illustrating a wide range of human emotions as well as outstanding displays of equine athleticism. The images and events that fans chose from were:

• Fusaichi Pegasus winning the Kentucky Derby
• Racing Returning to Arlington Park
• Hallowed Dreams Winning Her 16th in a Row
• Unshaded Nipping Albert the Great in the Travers
• Riboletta Besting Beautiful Pleasure in the Beldame
• She's a Devil Due taking the Walmac Alcibiades
• Laffit Pincay Jr. Winning His 9000th Race
• Gary Stevens Triumphing with War Chant in the Breeders' Cup Mile
• Kona Gold Breaking the Track Record in the Breeders' Cup Sprint
• Tiznow Defeating Giant's Causeway in the Breeders' Cup Classic

The Tiznow/Giant's Causeway Moment received 27% of the vote, edging out Laffit Pincay Jr's 9,000th win, which earned 22% of the vote. Fusaichi Pegasus's Kentucky Derby victory was a distant third, claiming 14% of the vote.

"The NTRA Moment of the Year Award is a great way to give fans a sense of involvement in the Eclipse Awards ceremony," said Keith Chamblin, NTRA vice president of marketing and industry relations. "The Tiznow-Giant's Causeway stretch duel was clearly a moment to remember and shows how fans respond to the international flavor and spectacle that the Breeders' Cup brings us year after year."

As part of the "NTRA Moment of the Year" contest, Todd Root, a 35 year-old transaction analyst from Houston was selected at random from among those voting for the winning moment. Root and his wife Suzanne will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Eclipse Awards. "The heart Tiznow and Giant's Causeway showed in the stretch drive is what impressed me the most," Root said of the Tiznow/Giant's Causeway Moment.

The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of Thoroughbred interests which in addition to racetracks, includes owners, breeders, off-track betting organizations, trainers, jockeys and sales companies, among others. Through membership dues and funding from other horseracing interests, like the American Quarter Horse Association, the NTRA markets, advertises, promotes and televises Thoroughbred racing in North America.
