FASIG-TIPTON TO SUPPORT NTRA CHARITIES - NEW YORK HEROES FUND THROUGH SALES COMMISSIONS
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) today announced that Fasig-Tipton Company will donate all commissions generated from its Oct. 30 sale of Horses of Racing Age Sale at New York's Belmont Park to the NTRA Charities - New York Heroes Fund.
"Our Belmont Park sale is held in Nassau County, just outside the five boroughs of New York City, and many families around Belmont have been touched by the events of September 11," said Fasig-Tipton President Walt Robertson. "We are proud to be part of the international response to the needs of all those whose lives have been affected by this tragedy and hope our sellers and buyers will join us in donating to this cause."
"We appreciate the support of Fasig-Tipton and other members of the Thoroughbred community worldwide, who have pledged millions of dollars to the New York Heroes Fund, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and similar charities," said NTRA Commissioner Tim Smith.
The Heroes Fund was established to aid the families of New York rescue workers and other victims in the surrounding communities who perished in the recent terrorist attacks against the United States. Contributions to the fund have exceeded $1.2 million, with additional pledges from the Thoroughbred industry expected to push the fund towards its goal of $2 million.
Formed in 1999, NTRA Charities is a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) subsidiary of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. For more information on the NTRA Charities - New York Heroes Fund or to make a contribution, contact the NTRA at (800) 792-6872 or visit www.breederscup.com/racingresponds.
