JOCKEY CLUB OFFICIALS RETURN FROM INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENTAL MEETING
Several Jockey Club officials recently returned from the 22nd International Departmental Meeting where policies and procedures pertaining to Thoroughbred breeding and the international exchange of documentation were discussed among participating Stud Book representatives.
Held over the course of three days at the offices of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association in Ocala, the meeting was attended by Jockey Club executive vice president and executive director, Gary Carpenter; Registrar Edward A. "Buddy" Bishop; and registration services manager, Janice Towles.
"These exchanges allow us to sit down with our international counterparts and discuss a wide range of issues pertinent to the betterment of Thoroughbred breeding in our particular nations as well as worldwide," said Carpenter. "We are also able to confer over each other's technological capacity to determine methods of streamlining the transmission of documents between Stud Books."
Also participating in the meeting were Stud Book authorities from France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Italy.
