THE JOCKEY CLUB RE-DESIGNS CORPORATE AND REGISTRY WEB SITES
The Jockey Club has re-designed both its corporate home page and the Registry web site in order to give visitors a better understanding of the organization and its family of companies and to simplify the manner in which owners and breeders perform registration-related functions online.
"We wanted to make the corporate home page more informative and user-friendly," said Dan Fick, the executive vice president and executive director of The Jockey Club. "In the case of the Registry web site, we wanted to make it a site where both new and experienced users of personal computers could easily find out everything they need to know to register a Thoroughbred."
From the Registry home page, owners and breeders can log into Interactive Registration (IR) to complete virtually all Registry-related forms and requirements. More than 16,000 owners and breeders are registered users of the service, which is available at no charge.
Owners and breeders are encouraged to consult the online version of The Principal Rules and Requirements of The American Stud Book available on the Registry home page for the most current rules concerning Thoroughbred registration.
Along those lines, and as part of an effort to decrease the number of gender discrepancies involving geldings, The Jockey Club will now permit and encourage designated racing officials at recognized racetracks to provide updated gender information through IR.
After receiving an e-mail notice from The Jockey Club, the official can log into IR and, on a pre-populated form, confirm the gender status of Thoroughbreds listed as geldings on the entry file submitted to Equibase, but as colts or horses in The Jockey Club's pedigree database.
The system will help ensure correct gender information distributed by Equibase and in The Jockey Club's pedigree database from that date forward. The modification of the rule regarding gelding reports (Rule 17) was approved by the Stewards of The Jockey Club on June 6.
