EQUIBASE VIRTUAL STABLETM TO FEATURE BREEDERS' CUP WORLD THOROUGHBRED CHAMPIONSHIPS NOTIFICATIONS
Just 10 days after conclusion of the Virtual StableTM Visa Triple Crown e-mail notification service, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and Equibase Company today announced that a similar service will soon be available to help fans follow the daily progress of leading contenders on the "Road to the World Thoroughbred Championships."
"We were thrilled with fan response to the Virtual Stable Triple Crown notifications and consider the innovative service to have been an important component of the overall promotion of what was by any statistical measure one of the most successful Triple Crowns ever," said Keith Chamblin, senior vice president of industry relations and marketing for the NTRA. "We expect the Virtual Stable World Thoroughbred Championships notification service to play an equally important role in raising consumer awareness of, and interest in, the Road to the World Thoroughbred Championships."
The Virtual StableTM World Thoroughbred Championships notification service will inform users via a once-daily e-mail of entries, results and workouts for the leading contenders in all eight championship divisions. A simple abbreviation beside each horse's name will designate into which championship race the horse is likely to be entered. Notifications will also include a list of upcoming televised races as well as active links that place users a click away from additional information such as complete race entries, charts and programs.
Fans can register for the free service immediately through either www.ntra.com or www.equibase.com. Notifications will begin following the July 4 weekend, which features the first of three future book wagers for the World Thoroughbred Championships. They will conclude following the 19th running of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships on October 26 at Arlington Park.
The service will track approximately 25 horses per division, including the top 10 horses in the World Thoroughbred Championships rankings and others as determined by the NTRA points system. Information on foreign horses will be included when possible with the assistance of various international organizations.
"One of our primary goals at Equibase is to use our information to stimulate interest in racing and make it easier for fans to follow and participate in our sport," said Hank Zeitlin, executive vice president of marketing and sales for Equibase Company. "Like the recently concluded Triple Crown notification service, Virtual Stable World Thoroughbred Championships notifications will help us fulfill that goal by familiarizing fans with all of the contenders for racing's richest day and providing them with an easy way to follow their progress."
The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horseracing interests, including the American Quarter Horse Association, charged with increasing popularity of horseracing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA and Breeders' Cup Limited also conduct the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, Thoroughbred racing's year-end Championship consisting of eight races and $13 million in purses and awards, and the Breeders' Cup Stakes Program and the Great State Challenge. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky. and New York City. NTRA press releases appear on the NTRA web site, www.ntra.com.
