| Hawthorne Racecourse (12/12/03) Contact: Jim Miller Jockey Eusebio Razo, Jr. Wins 2,000 STICKNEY, IL -- Longtime Chicago rider Eusebio Razo, Jr. scored his 2,000th career win aboard Shadoc in Hawthorne's second race on Friday afternoon. The-37-year-old Razo began his riding career in Mexico in 1980 at the age of 14. His first win in the United States came three years later aboard Lucy's Angel at Hawthorne. The current leading rider for the fall Hawthorne meet, Razo's only riding title came in 1988 at Sportsman's when he tallied 85 winners for the meet. Razo rode 1991 Horse of the Year Black Tie Affair to victory in the 1989 Sheridan at Arlington. Razo won his 1,500th career race at Hawthorne on July 22, 1999. He has won more stakes races than any other rider at Hawthorne this meet as he has garnered six stakes wins here in 2003. Razo's father, Eusebio Razo, Sr. currently trains on the Chicago circuit. ### |
