Shot Gun Favorite Headlines Hawthorne Oaks Field
STICKNEY, IL -- An excellent field of eleven has been assembled for Saturday's running of the Hawthorne Oaks. The $100,000 event will be run at 1 1/16 miles on the main track as trainer Kenny McPeek sends out morning line choice Shot Gun Favorite.
Owned by Stevestan Stable, Shot Gun Favorite has been very strong this year, winning four of eight starts for $157,230. Winning her first two starts of the year, she picked up an allowance win on the turf at Arlington and then jumped into stakes-company. Third on the main track in the Top Corsage at Arlington, she went to Prairie Meadows and was a good winner in the Prairie Meadows Oaks on September 12. She faced Graded Stakes runners in her last start as she finished third in the Grade 3 Indiana Breeders' Cup Oaks at Hoosier on October 3. The lukewarm morning line choice at 4-1, Shot Gun Favorite will again be ridden by Brice Blanc.
A runner that defeated Shot Gun Favorite in the Indiana Breeders' Cup Oaks is the Steven Duncker owned Claokof Vagueness. Drawing the outside post in the Hawtorne Oaks, this William Huffman trained filly was unraced as a two-year-old, but has been good at three. On the board in seven of eight starts, she finished second to Awesome Humor at Hoosier in the Oaks in her last. Eusebio Razo Jr. takes the mount for the 5-1 third choice in the morning line.
Second choice is the horse for the course as Rebridled Dreams looks to go three for three at Hawthorne. Owned by Coast To Coast Racing Fund, LLC and trained by Bret Calhoun, Rebridled Dreams looks for her third straight win. A strong allowance winner at Hawthorne on October 9, she came right back to easily take the $40,000 Money Penny here on October 24. The second choice at 9-2, Rebridled Dreams will get Eddie Martin Jr. in the saddle once again.
