HAWTHORNE NOTES
| Hawthorne Racecourse release (3/24/03) Contact: Jim Miller Senor Swinger Sold STICKNEY, IL -- Top three-year-old Senor Swinger was sold today by owners Bob Ackerman and Barry Golden and will now be in the hands of trainer Bob Baffert. Baffert was on the grounds of Hawthorne on this morning to watch the horse gallop and came to the determination to purchase the horse for an undisclosed amount. Senor Swinger broke his maiden here at Hawthorne last fall and headed to Gulfstream Park following that race. He dead-heated with stakes runner Tens Cents A Shine before finishing fifth last weekend in the Florida Derby. Senor Swinger ships out on Wednesday and plans are not set for where he will race next. "This has been an incredibly exciting ride," stated Ackerman. "Barry and I have a stable of other horses. At this time and for our programs it was in our best interest to sell out. We'll still own his dam and his siblings and any further success he has should enhance our program. We'll always be cheering for him." ### |
