E. T. BAIRD NAMED JOCKEY OF THE WEEK

Jockey E. T. Baird was honored as Jockey of the Week on Friday. During the first eight days of racing, Baird won a race on every day but Illinois Day. In addition, he had a riding triple and a riding double.

BIG PRICES ABOUND

For the second time this week, multiple runners on a single card paid $100 or more. Jimmy Lapa paid exactly $100 to win in the seventh. El Cometa came back two races later and paid $103.40 in the ninth.

The second leg of Hawthorne's free handicapping contest takes place Saturday. Simply pick two winners to qualify. Finals for this contest take place November 23.
