| Hawthorne Racecourse daily notes (11/8/02) Contact: Jim Miller PHIL GEOGEFF ILLINOIS FESTIVAL OF RACING Saturday's Phil Georgeff Illinois Festival of Racing is a series of six stakes races, restricted to Illinois breds. Each race carries a purse of $100,000. The Showtime Deb is a six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies; the Sun Power is at the same distance for 2-year-old colts and geldings, The Powerless features older fillies and mares at six-furlongs. Older males will be sprinting in the Lightning Jet. They stretch out for the Illini Princess and the Illinois Coronet. The Illini Princess caters to the ladies. The Illinois Coronet is for the boys. DOUBLES ON FRIDAY Trainer Michael Reavis and Jockey Larry Sterling teamed up for a pair of wins on Friday. He took the third with Custer's Last ($5.00) and the sixth with Bold Honoree ($4.20). Jockey Alfredo Juarez scored twice Friday. He took the eighth with Final Decision ($12.40) and the 10th with Aesthete Approval ($12.60). ### |
