YANEZ WINS TWO
Trainer Moises Yanez had two of his charges win on Sunday's card. He took the second with Crowning Diablo ($10.40) and the fourth with Showing Your Stuff ($6.80)
With two days of racing remaining only the race for leading trainer has already been decided. Tom Tomillo holds a four-winner advantage over Christine Janks, 12-8. Three trainers are tied for third with seven victories: Harvey Vanier; Richard Hazelton; and Tom Dorris.
Tomillo has two entered for Monday and six scheduled for Tuesday. Janks, with only one runner entered over the next two days, can't make up enough ground. Dorris has five starters, Vanier has three, and Hazelton has none.
The races for top jockey and owner are much closer. Jockey Shane Laviolette currently holds a one-win advantage over Jesse Campbell (18-17). E. T. Baird and Alfredo Juarez Jr are tied for fourth with 16. And Larry Sterling is still within striking distance with 15.
All riders have numerous chances left over the next two days. It's still up in the air.
It's even closer between owners. Lothenbach Stables Inc. and Louis Roussel are tied with five wins. Frank C. Calabrese and Wexler Stables Inc. are tied for third with four wins.
With two racing days left, Lothenbach and Wexler still have two starters apiece, Roussel has one, and Calabrese is done for the meet.
