Chicago Tracks Get Together For Replays
STICKNEY, IL -- Today, Executives from Hawthorne Race Course, Arlington Park, and National Jockey Club came to an agreement on a contract to provide racing replays from the three tracks on the same network and time.
This agreement will begin on May 5, with the start of Hawthorne's meet and the show will take place on CLTV from 10:00 pm - 10:30 pm every racing night. The show will carry over from track to track as the racing season changes and an agreement is in place for the show to continue in 2003.
Hawthorne's Director of Operations, Thomas F. Carey III stated, "This is very encouraging. The agreement from all tracks is a sign of cohesiveness for the tracks involved and for the racing industry in Illinois. This is something that we have been working on for years and by having a consistent timeslot and network for the show to air, we are providing a service that the racing fans in Illinois can appreciate."
In addition to the Thoroughbred replay show, a harness show will also air on CLTV as Suburban Downs at Hawthorne races from June 7 - July 13 with the harness replay show airing nightly from 12:30 am - 1:00 am.
In 2002, Hawthorne Race Course will run Thoroughbreds from May 5 - June 4 and November 1 - December 31. In the summer, Arlington Park will take over with racing from June 5 - October 27. Sportsman's is expected to join in with the replays when racing resumes in 2003.
