LEXINGTON, Ky. - The official Breeders' Cup commemorative print for the 2000 Championship (Nov. 4 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky) has been completed and is now available for sale to the public.

The event print was reproduced from an original oil painting by internationally recognized British artist Peter Howell. It measures 26 " x 24" and depicts a fictional paddock scene from the Breeders' Cup Championship at Churchill Downs.

"Peter Howell captures the majesty and pageantry of the Breeders' Cup in this year's official print," said D.G. Van Clief, Jr., president of Breeders' Cup Ltd. "We are delighted to exhibit his talents for this year's edition, the third in the official collection, which will make a terrific complement to the previous two editions."

Part of the 2000 Officially Licensed merchandise catalog, the print is available immediately and may be ordered by telephone through All Pro Championships at (800) 992-9905. It may also be viewed and purchased via the Breeders' Cup Online Store at The print is offered in Signed Collector's Edition for $175 and Official Edition (unsigned) for $40.

A native of North Wales, Howell was introduced to the world of racing when he was eight-years-old. A talented painter growing up, he opted to forego art school in order to pursue a career in racing as a trainer. Howell's work--critically acclaimed in both the United Kingdom and United States--is primarily influenced by French impressionists and their immediate successors.

The original piece will be on display the week of the Breeders' Cup Championship at the Kentucky Derby Museum, located on the Churchill Downs premises. It will then be auctioned at the Breeders' Cup Charity Gala on Friday evening, Nov. 3, at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
