PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS TO BROADCAST BREEDERS' CUP CHAMPIONSHIP
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 2000 Breeders' Cup Championship on Saturday, November 4 will be broadcast exclusively over the Premiere Radio Networks, it was announced today by officials of Breeders' Cup Limited and Premiere Radio Networks, Inc. The on-air broadcast will be produced by Host Communications and Premiere.
As part of a three-year agreement, Premiere will produce a 65-minute broadcast (4:25-5:30 p.m. ET) from Churchill Downs with live calls of the $2 million Breeders' Cup Turf and the $4 million Breeders' Cup Classic. The program, which will be heard coast-to-coast along the Premiere Radio Network, will also include twice-hourly updates of the previous Breeders' Cup Championship races at the top and bottom of each hour beginning at 12:00 noon ET.
"We are very excited with the establishment of a first-ever national radio broadcast of the Breeders' Cup Championship," said D.G. Van Clief, Jr. "We look forward to working with Premiere in expanding our platform for the presentation of Racing's Greatest Day."
The Premiere broadcast team for the program will consist of veteran racecaller Dave Johnson, who will joined by analysts Julie Krone and reporters Don Chevrier and Fred Manfra.
In addition to Saturday's broadcast, Johnson will host five preview vignettes for the Premiere stations during Breeders' Cup week.
SFX Sports Group negotiated the agreement with Premiere on behalf of Breeders' Cup Ltd.
Breeders' Cup Limited is a not-for-profit organization based in
Lexington, Kentucky, whose primary goal is to build positive public
awareness of Thoroughbred racing and expand opportunities for enhancement of
the Thoroughbred Industry. Breeders' Cup Ltd. conducts the Breeders' Cup
Championship - Thoroughbred Racing's year-end showcase consisting of eight
races and $13 million in purses and awards. The industry's breeders and
owners fund the purses for the Breeders' Cup Championship.
