Today, Arlington Park is mailing Breeders' Cup ticket application forms to thousands of individuals who have requested applications since Arlington was announced as the 2002 site last December. To accommodate the tremendous interest in the 2002 Breeders' Cup - the first time that the event will be held in the Chicago area - approximately 35,000 temporary stadium seats will be constructed around the permanent grandstand facility at the racetrack. All outdoor open-air seating will include convenient access to heated pavilions -- complete with mutuel windows, television monitors, food and beverage concessions, merchandise stands and restroom facilities. All applications must be received at Arlington Park no later than Sunday, June 16, 2002, to be included in a lottery that will determine the order in which applications will be processed. Applications received after the deadline will be handled on a first come, first served basis, dependent upon seating availability. If the ticket order is filled, a confirmation with seat location will be received two to three weeks after June 16. Tickets will be delivered approximately 30 days prior to the 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. "Interest in this year's Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships has been very positive and we have already received thousands of inquiries for tickets," said Arlington Park President Steve Sexton. "To make it as fair as possible for the general public, we will conduct a lottery for tickets with a limit of six per household. "From the start of our planning of venue construction for this magnificent event, our primary goal has been to ensure that every fan in attendance on Saturday, October 26 will have a very memorable and comfortable experience," added Sexton. Tickets will be available for the following nine locations around the racetrack:
Views to and from seating areas
Applicants may choose any of the above seating options, rank them in order
of preference, and have the option of selecting the Next Best Available
Seating if their first selection is sold out. Optional seating for Friday,
October 25 and Sunday, October 27, will also be available in the ticket
packages.
