BREEDERS' CUP NAMES HYATT REGENCY AS OFFICIAL MEDIA HOTEL
Breeders' Cup Limited and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) have announced its official media hotel headquarters and sites for three special media events at this year's Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, to be held at Arlington Park, October 26.
The Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg, Ill. has been selected as the official media hotel headquarters for this year's Breeders' Cup. The Hyatt Regency Woodfield, a 10 minute drive from Arlington Park, will serve as the rooming, credentialing and hospitality center for the North American and international media contingent attending the 19th Breeders' Cup, which annually brings together top horses from around the world to compete in eight Championship races.
Mike Ditka's restaurant will host the Breeders' Cup Pre-Entry/Welcome Breakfast on Thursday, October 17. The Welcome Breakfast, the first official 2002 Breeders' Cup event, features the announcement of the horses pre-entered for all eight races of the World Thoroughbred Championships.
Harry Caray's restaurant will be the site of the Breeders' Cup Media Day luncheon on Tuesday, October 22. Styled after the NFL's Super Bowl media day, the local media and the international contingent of journalists covering the Breeders' Cup will have the opportunity to interview top trainers and jockeys from North American and Europe.
The Field Museum will be the site of the Breeders' Cup Press Party, which will be held on Thursday, October 24. Nearly 2000 members of the international media, horsemen and local dignitaries will gather in the museum's spectacular rotunda for a festive evening of fine cuisine and entertainment centered around some of the great treasures of the natural world.
"We are very pleased to reach agreements with the Hyatt Regency, The Field Museum, Harry Caray's and Mike Ditka's for our special media events this year," said Damon Thayer, Vice President of Breeders' Cup and Event Marketing for the NTRA. "We are excited about hosting special events that will give everyone the chance to experience Chicago and the North West Suburbs. We would like to extend our thanks to the members of the Greater Woodfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and Arlington Park for their assistance in this process over the past several months."
The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horseracing interests, including the American Quarter Horse Association, charged with increasing popularity of horseracing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA and Breeders' Cup Limited also conduct the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, Thoroughbred racing's year-end Championships consisting of eight races and $13 million in purses and awards, the Breeders' Cup Stakes Program and the Great State Challenge. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New York City. NTRA press releases appear on the NTRA Web site, NTRA.com.
