SHANDY CAPTURES HI OAK SILVER HANDICAP ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (May 18, 2003) -- Asiel Stable's homebred Shandy rallied from just off the pace to post a two-length score in the $40,000 Hi Oak Silver Handicap Sunday at Arlington Park. The Hi Oak Silver, a seven-furlong-contest for Illinois-registered 3-year-olds, serves as a prep for the $75,000-added Springfield Stakes which will be run here as part of the Prairie State Festival on June 21. Ridden by Carlos Silva, the gelded son of Ellusive Quality covered the distance in 1:24.42 over a fast track and paid $9.20, $5.60 and $2.20. He earned $24,000 for the victory, his second straight and fourth in nine starts overall, to elevate his bankroll past the $100,000 mark to $112,307. My Beau Mister Joe was second in the six-horse field and paid $6 and $2.20. It was a neck farther back to third-place finisher Wiggins, who paid $2.10. Roy's Trigger, Pico D J Alex and Link to Ordway completed the of finish.
