MAN 'O RHYTHM DANCES TO TAYLOR'S SPECIAL SCORE ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Oct. 6, 2002) -- Grace Turnbow's Man o' Rhythm took the lead on the turn and battled gamely to earn a half a length tally in the $49,500 Taylor's Special Stakes Sunday at Arlington Park. Corey Lanerie rode the Ron Goodridge-trained son of Slewacide who paid $14.60, $8.40 and $3.60. The 5-year-old gelding battled early with Meandmyloveman through a quarter mile in 22.71 seconds. In front at the half, Man o' Rhtyhm took a half-mile split of 46.60 seconds en route to a final clocking of 58.86 for the five furlongs over yielding turf. The Taylor's Special was the second win in 12 starts this year for Man o' Rhythm and sixth overall in 31 trips to the post. The winner's share of $29,700 boosted his bankroll to $169,250. Justice for Auston rallied from mid pack to finish second in the nine-horse field and paid $7, $3.20. It was another head back to Bold Pilot, part of a 3-2 coupled entry with Miners Gamble, who paid $2.40 to show. Grey Cart, Miners Gamble, Classic Appeal, Gold Taker, Meandmyloveman and Zeal With a Kiss completed the order of finish. - END - |
