(August 3, 2002) -- Flying Column II's Generous Rosi, an English-bred son of Generous, led every step of the way en route to a three-length victory in the $50,000 Buckpasser Handicap Saturday at Arlington Park. Robby Albarado rode the Niall O'Callaghan-trained 7-year-old who covered the mile and an eighth over a fast track in 1:49.53. The win was the first in three starts this year for Generous Rosi, who earned $30,000 for the score to boost his bankroll to $464,392 and paid $5, $3 and $2.40. Last year, he won the Grade III Turfway Park Fall Championship and later ran second to Aptitude in the Grade I Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park. Mc Mahon, who captured the $100,000 Sportsman's Park Breeders' Cup Handicap in March and the $100,000 Precisionist Handicap at Prairie Meadows in July, chased the winner throughout to finish second, returning $2.80 and $2.20. On Your Mark made a belated rally to run third and paid $2.60. Saquache and Apalachee Special completed the order of finish. - END - |
