(July 4, 2002) -- Lady Of Peace, who races in the red, white and black colors of the Russell L. Reineman Stable, rallied from last with a half mile to run in the race to win the $47,250 Possibly Perfect Stakes by a neck Thursday at Arlington Park. Larry Sterling Jr. rode the Frank Springer-trained daughter of Lord At War who traveled the mile and an eighth over firm turf in 1:50.90. "I had the perfect trip," Sterling said. "She got through at the end and everything worked out." Pacesetter Applesolutely, who led through fractions of 24.03, 49.49, 1:14.31 and 1:39.01, held on to finish second just a nose clear of Golden Antigua in the seven-horse field. Salty Farma, Tabadabado, Twilite Tryst and Lunar Star completed the order of finish. "She didn't have much pace at first," said jockey Frank Lovato Jr., who rode the runner-up, "but she is a strong filly and finished real good." Sent off as the second-to-longest choice in the betting, Lady of Peace returned $25.00, $11.00 and $5.40. Applesolutely paid $12.40 and $5.40. Golden Antigua paid $3.20. - END - |
