TRACKSIDE AT THE INFERNO PLANS GRAND OPENING SATURDAY, FEB. 21
SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (Feb. 17, 2004) -- One of South Beloit's favorite dining establishments, The Inferno Casual Dining and Lounge, will become home to Illinois' newest off-track wagering facility when Arlington Park's eighth Trackside OTB celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004.
Located at 1322 Gardner Street in South Beloit, the new Trackside OTB at The Inferno will offer wagering day and night seven days a week on races throughout Illinois, from Churchill Downs Simulcast Network ("CDSN") tracks and other major racetracks throughout North America and the world in a casual and comfortable setting.
"The new Trackside location at The Inferno in South Beloit, which adds the off-track wagering element to an existing restaurant and lounge, is in keeping with the model for the future of Trackside OTBs in Illinois," said Arlington Park President Cliff Goodrich. "It provides additional entertainment that will drive traffic and revenues to an existing establishment, while providing us with a new, convenient location to attract fans to the excitement of Thoroughbred racing."
A formal grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, open to the public, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m. South Beloit Mayor Randy Kirichkow and Inferno owners, brothers Bob and Dan Larsen and Stan Mannino, will join members of Arlington Park's management team for the festivities. Guests in attendance on Feb. 21 will be treated to complimentary hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and the first 100 guests will receive a free Arlington Park souvenir.
"We are looking forward to the opening of the new Trackside OTB and being partners with Arlington Park and Churchill Downs," said City of South Beloit Mayor Randy Kirichkow. "We're excited to have another form of entertainment for South Beloit."
"I've been in South Beloit my whole life," said Inferno Owner Bob Larsen. "I think the new Trackside OTB will be a benefit to both The Inferno and to the entire City of South Beloit. It will draw new clientele, not only to my business, but to the city too."
The Trackside in South Beloit will be housed in a completely renovated area of The Inferno Casual Dining and Lounge, which features a variety of full service menu items, highlighted by steaks, seafood and pasta as well as many light snacks and sandwiches. Three dozen television monitors, including three 42-inch plasma screens, and eight self-service machines to accept wagers are located throughout the facility.
In addition, a program counter, where Daily Racing Forms, Illinois racing programs, simulcast programs and tip sheets are available, will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily. Also, customers may sign up free for the Twin Spires Club player rewards program at this location and current members may use their cards to earn and redeem points. Instructional information on racing and wagering is available throughout the facility.
The new Trackside will be open for wagering from 11:00 a.m. until midnight seven days a week while The Inferno remains open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
