ARLINGTON PARK TO OPEN ON BREEDERS' CUP DAY, OCT. 25
Both Track and Trackside OTBs to Simulcast Races from Santa Anita
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 19, 2003) -- Arlington Park, host to the record-breaking 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships last October, will open on Saturday, Oct. 25 for the 2003 Breeders' Cup from Santa Anita Park in California. In addition, all seven Illinois Trackside OTB locations, including Trackside Arlington Heights, will simulcast the championship races.
On Breeders' Cup Day, Arlington Park will open the second floor of the grandstand including all three simulcast centers, Silks Lounge and Deli, the Player's Lounge and concession stands. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. at the Grandstand entrance only and all access to the track's parking lot will be through the Wilke Avenue entrance only. Trackside Arlington Heights, located on the corner of Euclid Avenue and Wilke Road, will open at 7 a.m. that day.
Admission to Arlington Park will be $3 with reserved seating in the three simulcast centers on the second floor available for an additional $3 for seats with a TV and $2 for seating without a TV. Advance sale for reserved seats begins on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the second floor grandstand box office at Arlington Park.
In addition to the eight Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championship races, simulcasts of racing from other tracks including Hawthorne, Calder, Belmont Park, Louisiana Downs and Bay Meadows will be available at Arlington Park and all Trackside locations. The first simulcast race from Calder begins at 9 a.m.
Advance wagering on Breeders' Cup races will be available at all Trackside OTB locations beginning on Friday, Oct. 24.
Arlington Park -- host to the record-breaking 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships and the Chicago area's premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. -- runs a 104-day meet in 2003 through Saturday, Sept. 27.
