MORNING LINE FAVORITE TATES CREEK OUT OF BEVERLY D.; BIS REPETITAS SCRATCHED FROM SECRETARIAT STAKES
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (August 14, 2003) -- Arlington Park racing officials confirmed Thursday morning that Juddmonte Farms Inc.'s Tates Creek, the 5-2 morning line favorite for Saturday's $700,000 Grade I Beverly D. Stakes, and Edmund A. Gann's Bis Repetitas, a candidate for Saturday's $400,000 Grade I Secretariat Stakes, have been scratched from their respective engagements.
Difficulty in securing travel for the horses from their Southern California homebase to Chicago was the reason cited by Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel for the scratches.
Juddmonte Farms Inc.'s Heat Haze, also trained by Frankel but based at Saratoga, is expected to arrive from New York Thursday in advance of her projected start in the Beverly D.
