FIESTA IN THE PARK!
ARLINGTON PARK TO BRING SOME SALSA TO THE RACES ON SATURDAY, JULY 12, 2003
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 2, 2003) -- In recognition of the Latino jockeys, employees and their ongoing commitment to the surrounding community, Arlington Park will be hosting a family day-Latino style! The Second Annual Fiesta in the Park will be held in the park area adjacent to the grandstand starting at noon on Saturday, July 12. Admission gates will open at 11:15 a.m.
Fiesta in The Park will feature Latino cuisine served up to the rhythms of Latino music provided by: Sones de México Ensemble Chicago, Mariachi Perla de México, Ballet Folklórico Huehuecoyotl and the Salsa, Mambo Band of William Gomez con Cache Orquesta. A special appearance by Medieval Times' Jousting Knights, and DJs from LaLey 107.9FM will also be featured. The family-oriented event will include a petting zoo and pony rides.
Latino celebrities and entertainment will also be highlighted in the Winner's Circle at Arlington Park between the day's scheduled races. Fiesta in The Park is expected to attract an estimated additional attendance of 4,000 Latinos, making this event one of the largest venues for a Latino festival in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs.
"Fiesta in The Park provides Arlington Park the opportunity to celebrate the heritage and culture of the Latino community as well as their contributions to Thoroughbred racing," said Arlington Park Vice President of Marketing and Sales Carl Schloessman. "Following the tremendous success of the inaugural Fiesta last summer, we looking forward to a bigger and an even more exciting event on July 12."
Arlington Park will be donating a portion of the day's proceeds to the Reflejos "Got Ganas" Scholarship Fund "Recognizing Latino Leadership in Education."
