TRACKSIDE McHENRY NOW OPEN
Formal Grand Opening Slated For Saturday, June 21
McHENRY, Ill. (June 18, 2003) -- One of McHenry's favorite lounge and sports bars is now the home of Illinois' newest off-track wagering facility. Trackside McHenry, located inside Monaco's Bar & Grill, opened for business on Wednesday, June 18.
Located at 2816 Route 120, McHenry, Illinois (3/4 mile east of Hwy 31) Trackside McHenry offers wagering day and night seven days a week on races from Churchill Downs Simulcast Network ("CDSN") tracks and other major racetracks throughout North America and the world. More than 30 video monitors are located throughout the facility -- including two 61-inch screens. There will be eight self-service machines to accept wagers.
A formal grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m. McHenry Mayor Pam Althoff and Arlington Park President Cliff Goodrich will cut the ribbon at Illinois' seventh Trackside OTB, the name given to all off-track wagering locations operated by Arlington Park and its parent company, Churchill Downs Incorporated ("CDI"), and the second Illinois Trackside housed in an existing restaurant.
"The new Trackside location in McHenry, which adds the off-track wagering element to an existing sports bar and restaurant, is in keeping with the model for the future of Trackside OTBs in Illinois," said Arlington Park President Cliff Goodrich. "It provides additional entertainment that will drive traffic and revenues to an existing establishment, while providing us with new, convenient location to attract fans to the excitement of Thoroughbred racing."
Guests in attendance at the grand opening will be treated to complimentary hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and the first 200 guests will receive an Arlington Park T-shirt.
Trackside McHenry is housed in a completely renovated area of Monaco's, which features a full-service menu ranging from "the best hamburger in Illinois" to steaks. Trackside McHenry is open from 10:30 a.m. until midnight seven days a week. Monaco's, which opens at 10:30 a.m. seven days a week, is open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Churchill Downs Incorporated ("CDI") operates 11 state-of-the art off-track
betting ("OTB") facilities in three states: Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
Branded under the common name, "Trackside," in 2001, the OTBs offer
