ARLINGTON FESTIVAL TO FEATURE CHICAGO'S LONGEST GREEK LINE DANCE

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (June 5, 2003) -- When the inaugural Greek Fest, co-sponsored by GreekCircle Magazine, visits Arlington Park on Saturday, June 14, all Festival goers will be invited to join in to form Chicago's longest Greek Line Dance on the racetrack following the final race of the day.

Arlington's first-ever authentic Greek summer festival will feature authentic Greek food, Greek dancing (including dance troupe performances) and Greek music as well as family activities for the children, including pony rides, a petting zoo plus coloring books and crayons. Music and festivities begin at noon with the first race set for 1:30 p.m. General admission is $6 at the door and all children under 16 admitted for free. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the new Greek American Rehabilitation & Nursing Centre.

Among the authentic Greek food on the menu will be:

• Gyros: Sliced lamb dish served with pita bread, fresh sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, tzatziki sauce. Pita bread should be slightly warmed and brushed with olive oil and warmed on a flat grill.
• Souvlaki (Shish Kebab): Marinated pork tenderloin barbecued on a skewer. Serve with rice, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, greek olives, greek cheese and a bread roll.
• Grecian Chicken: One half chicken marinated and baked in olive oil, lemon, and oregano. Served with rice, salad, cheese, olives, and a bread roll.
• Spanakopita: Chopped spinach, cheese, and spices baked in a phyllo dough.
• Tiropita: Cheese baked in a phyllo dough.
• Pastries for Dessert: Baklava, Galactobouriko, Karidopita and Melomakarona
• Greek Wine

Arlington Park -- host to the record-breaking 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships and the Chicago area's premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. -- will run a 104-day meet in 2003 from Friday, May 9 through Saturday, Sept. 27.
