NEW DRAW SCHEDULE FOR ARLINGTON PARK IN 2003
72-Hour Entry Box For Most Days
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (April 25, 2003) -- Arlington Park Executive Vice President of Racing and Racing Secretary Frank Gabriel, Jr. announced today that a 72-hour draw schedule will be in effect for most days of the 2003 racing season that begins on Friday, May 9.
"This new schedule provides advantages to our horsemen at Arlington Park as well as those who will ship in to race here," explained Gabriel in making the announcement. "The extra day will give everyone more time to make preparations for their races at Arlington."
A double draw will be held each Wednesday to fill programs for Friday and Saturday. The Wednesday-for-Friday draw will be the only 48-hour box during the 2003 meet. Sunday's races will be drawn the previous Thursday, entries for Wednesday cards will be taken on Sunday, and Thursday programs will be drawn on Monday.
There will be no entries taken on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday except for on Friday, May 23 for Memorial Day on Monday, May 26 and Friday, August 29 for Labor Day on Monday, September 1.
