ARLINGTON PARK INTRODUCES 2003 "FREQUENT STARTER REWARDS PROGRAM"
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (April 18, 2003) -- Arlington Park Executive Vice President of Racing and Racing Secretary Frank G. Gabriel Jr. announced the unveiling of the new "Arlington Park Frequent Starter Rewards Program" that will reward the trainers who start the most horses over four time periods in six different categories based upon stall allocation during the 2003 meet.
During each of the four time periods, trainers have a chance to earn a $1,000 American Express Gift Certificate. A trainer may only win one period award during the season regardless of any changes in stall allocation.
"We are always trying to find a way to thank our horsemen who day in and day out support our racing program," said Gabriel in making the announcement. "This is our way to say 'thank you' to the horsemen who participate the most during our race meet."
The Frequent Starter Rewards Program consists of four time periods: May 9 through June 6 (22 racing days); June 7 through July 6 (22 days); July 9 through September 1 (41-day Summer Festival of Racing); and Sept. 3-27 (19 days).
The statistics on starters for each period will be separated into the following divisions based upon stall allocation: 1-5 stalls; 6-12 stalls; 13-19 stalls; 20-29 stalls; 30-39 stalls; and 40 stalls and higher.
At the end of the season, a final reward of a $2,000 American Express Gift Certificate will be awarded in each division to the period winner who earned the most points based upon participation and accomplishments over the course of the entire season in certain types of races such as 2-year-old races, claiming races with a tag of $20,000 or higher, and stakes races.
Arlington Park -- host to the record-breaking 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships and the Chicago area's premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. -- will run a 104-day meet in 2003 from Friday, May 9, through Saturday, Sept. 27. Arlington Park, whose parent company is Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates six off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities: Trackside Arlington Park (Arlington Heights), Trackside Quad City Downs (East Moline), Trackside Chicago, Trackside Rockford, Trackside Waukegan and Longshots featuring Trackside OTB in South Elgin.
