ILLINOIS TRACKSIDE OTB FACILITIES JOIN TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Dec. 3, 2002) -- For the second consecutive year, Arlington Park and its six Trackside OTB locations will participate in the United States Marines Corps Toys For Tots collection campaign beginning today and continuing through Dec. 15.
Any individual who brings a new, unwrapped toy to any of Arlington's six Trackside locations will receive either an Arlington Park 75th Anniversary T-shirt for each toy donated or a 1,000-point Twin Spires Club bonus (limit one per member).
"We look forward to the opportunity to participate again in this year's Toys For Tots annual drive," said Arlington President Steve Sexton. "It's a chance for us to expand upon our tradition of involvement in the community for a great cause. Helping needy families during the holidays supports our philosophy of being a family-oriented entertainment venue."
All toys should be dropped off either at the program counter or Twin Spires Club Center at the Trackside locations.
This marks the 53rd year of the Toys for Tots program in Illinois (it first began in Los Angeles 54 years ago). Last year, more than 500,000 toys were collected and distributed in the Chicagoland area.
Arlington Park will present all toys received to Illinois State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka at a date to be determined later. For further information, please contact Arlington Park Vice President of Community Relations Kristine Stabler at (847) 385-7740.
Arlington Park will hold its 104-day meet in 2003 from Friday, May 9 through Saturday, Sept. 27. Arlington Park, whose parent company is Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates six off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities - Trackside Arlington Park (Arlington Heights), Trackside Quad City Downs (East Moline), Trackside Chicago, Trackside Rockford, Trackside Waukegan and Longshots Bar & Grill featuring Trackside OTB in South Elgin.
