ARLINGTON PARK ANNOUNCES BREEDERS' CUP DAY CASH PARKING METRA ADDS EXTRA TRAINS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, OCT. 25-26
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Oct. 21, 2002) -- Arlington Park announced that $10 cash parking for the 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships will be available on Saturday, Oct. 26 at The Continental Towers located at the intersection of Golf and Wilke Roads in Rolling Meadows. Free shuttle service, to and from Arlington Park, will be provided for all Breeders' Cup ticket holders who pay to park at Continental Towers.
In addition, Metra has added five trains to their normal regular schedule to and from Arlington Park along their Union Pacific/Northwest Line from Chicago to Harvard on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26.
"We thought it was important to provide convenient cash parking on Breeders' Cup day for all of our fans who did not pre-purchase parking credentials," explained Arlington Park President Steve Sexton. "We have also worked extensively with Metra to provide additional public transportation to this big event."
On Friday, Oct. 25, Metra has added an extra train that leaves Chicago at 11 a.m. and arrives at Arlington Park at 11:45 a.m. On Breeders' Cup day, Saturday, Oct. 26, four additional trains, two each way, have been scheduled. The extra trains to the Breeders' Cup leave Chicago at 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. and arrive at Arlington Park at 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., respectively. Also, Metra is offering a Weekend Pass for $5 per person good all day Saturday and Sunday, and weekend parking at all Metra stations along the rail line. On Breeders' Cup day, Arlington's admission gates will open at 8 a.m. with the first race at 11:05 a.m. The Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships will begin with the third race at 12:20 p.m. and continue through race 10, the Breeders' Cup Classic at 4:35 p.m. There will be an additional 11th race at 5:15 p.m.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, Bureau of Tourism is an official sponsor of the Breeders' Cup.
Arlington Park, host of the 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships on Oct. 26 and the Chicago area's premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill., will complete its 107-day meet in 2002 on Sunday, Oct. 27.
