MARCIAL TAKEN TO, RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL FOLLOWING 1ST RACE SPILL

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 15, 2002) -- Apprentice jockey Alejandro Marcial was treated and released at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights following an incident in the first race at Arlington Park Sunday, with an unspecified injury to his left shoulder and abrasions to his right forearm.

Marcial's mount, Ski Away, broke down while racing on the lead approaching the far turn in the one-mile race, throwing the rider to the track.
